What is DynamoBIM??

DynamoBIM이란 Grasshopper와 같이 Visual Programming으로서 알고리듬을 디자인 프로세스에 적용시켜 Revit 에서 Computational 디자인을 하거나 Documenting을 Parametric하게 할수 있도록 하는 오픈소스 프로그램이다. 최근 DynamoBIM이 기존의 레빗의 플러그인이라는 개념에서 독립적인 소프트웨어로 오토데스크에 의해 개발되었고, 1년간 라이센스가 미화 300달러정도 한다고 생각하면 된다. 물론, 레빗 라이센스를 가지고 있다면, Dynamo는 무료 플러그인으로 사용할 수 있으며 단순히 Geometry만을 변형할뿐만아니라 Geometry에 관한 정보를 관리할 수 있는 BIM의 기능을 추가하고 있어 그 발전 가능성이 무한하다. 

특히나, 레빗에서는 하기 힘들었던 많은 어려웠던 점을 Dynmamo를 통해서 더욱 쉽고 편리하게 다가갈수 있게 되었고, REVIT API나 Python, Autodesk Designscript와 같은 기존의 전통적인 스크립트를 함께 사용할 수 있어 많은 장점을 가지고 있다.

Visual Programming이란?

Designing frequently involves establishing visual, systemic, or geometric relationships between the parts of a design. More times than not, these relationships are developed by workflows that gets us from concept to result by way of rules. Perhaps without knowing it, we are working algorithmically - defining a step-by-step set of actions that follow a basic logic of input, processing, and output. Programming allows us to continue to work this way but by formalizing our algorithms.
